Automated leather cutting center is one of the main concepts of ICOL Smart Factory solution. It is a complex solution combining hardware and software consisting of:
– technological cells;
– service cells;
– transportation system.
TECHNOLOGICAL CELLS
DEFECT DETECTION AND APPLICATION OF TRANSPORTATION FILM
The first stage, where the leather is scanned to define edges and to detect flaws. Transportation film is applied right after.
MARKING
The robot marks on the leather with a printer tool the patterns with dashed lines, as well as creates other inscriptions, such as SKU number, size, etc.
PRINTING
Color printer applies ornaments and patterns onto the leather surface. Parts of different shoe models can be found on the same leather.
LASER PERFORATION
Embossing and perforating tools are used for stamping, branding, embossing and hole punching. The system allows to have parts from different shoe models on the same leather.
EDGE SKIVING
Edge skiving is used to thin the edges of leather to a certain desired thickness.This facilitates the folding of the edges as well as stitching with other leather parts. The robot with the abrasive tool flattens the outer edges without actually cutting the leather to have it in one piece for further processing and transportation.
Traditionally, woven or nonwoven fabrics, fur or leather are used as lining materials. They are sewn on or glued to the inner side of the details. ICOL Group has invented and patented a brand new layer sputtering technology, called ICOL Polycomposite Layer Sputtering (IPLS).
REINFORCING
This is the stage of application of composite compounds that stiffen, polymerize and provide the desired properties of thermal insulation, air circulation, waterproof, absorption and comfort. The spraying injector is also the patented technology from ICOL Group. This type of lining is far more resistant to friction, bending and stretching than the traditional materials. ICOL Polycomposite Layer Sputtering (IPLS) technology provides the opportunity to vary layer thickness and to use up to 6 different compounds within one technological operation, including multi-layer application to the same part.
CUTTING AND PICKING
Cutting is performed according to the digital cutting scheme. This technological solution is patented as well and is called IICC (ICOL Intelligent Screening & Cutting).
SERVICE CELLS
INVERTATOR
During different processing stages it might be necessary to turn the leather upside down and vice versa. We’ve created a special invertator for such rotations. AGV mobile robot brings the roller to the invertator, and it rotates the roller. Then the roller is transported by AGV to the next processing station.
TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
AGV MOBILE ROBOTS
AGV mobile robots are responsible for transporting leather and details between the technological and service cells.
